Ex-Cyrus Erie drummer Michael McBride and Nebraska
born bassist Scott McCarl are recruited into a new
configuration of Raspberries.

This new lineup takes to the road for a brutal
schedule of one-nighters around the country; in the
process tightening their sound and introducing their
new lineup.

Raspberries are back in the studio with producer
Jimmy Ienner to record their 4th LP, Starting Over.
During the sessions, John Lennon befriends the group
and is rumored to have helped mix the band’s magnum
opus, “Overnight Sensation.”

While recording the album, Raspberries take a break
to appear before over 100,000 people at a free
concert in New York’s Central Park, an event hosted
by John Lennon and Harry Nilsson.

Starting Over is released to universal acclaim and
later selected by Rolling Stone as one of the “Best
Albums Of The Year.”

“Overnight Sensation (Hit Record)” races to a solid
#18 placing on the Billboard singles chart; years
later the song is selected by Rolling Stone as one
of the top 100 singles of all-time.

Raspberries appear on Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert.

Discouraged by the album’s lack of chart success,
Raspberries continue to play shows through the year.
